What is Mysticism? Who Are Mystics?

Mysticism is popularly known as becoming one with the god or the absolute. Mysticism exists only because ignorance exists, whatever we are ignorant of will naturally become mystical to us. Mysticism is something which is banned or not recognized and meant to be wrong practice in some religion. Mysticism is when a person wants to attain the divinity and oneness of the soul with the supreme soul to leave far behind this materialistic world. The person who is true a Mystic and able to leave all the materialistic things behind them exert a great formative influence. Mysticism is all about gaining knowledge on experiencing a kind of ecstasy or altered state of consciousness which is given a religious or spiritual meaning. It also refers to the attainment of insight and ultimate or hidden truth.

“If you want the truth, I’ll tell you the truth: Listen to the secret sound, the real sound, which is inside you.”

Kabir

When we speak about Mysticism we think we have to sacrifice materialistic things and we will achieve the ability to achieve Mysticism. But that’s just the starting point of the evolution towards the Mysticism. The four main types of mysticism are the Upanishad, the Yogic, the Buddhistic and the Bhakt.

“Life is a process, not a problem. The question is only, have you prepared yourself for the process or not.”

Sadhguru

Now, unless you were born in a place with no influence from popular culture, politics and society and were raised in a gurukul to meditate for nirvana, its safe to say that to reach this path of self realized ecstasy, you will need guidance.

Mysticism can be defined as a belief or view, but in reality, it is much more than that…..
